Granite, Marble & Corian After Care & Maintenance

Granite

1:  Regularly clean surfaces with warm water and washing up liquid.  Rinse with clean warm water and dry with a soft cloth. Alternatively you can use the "super-cleaner" in the after care kit.

2:  Wipe up spills immediately.  Pay particular attention to the tap area.  It is very difficult to remove limescale from granite.

3:  Take care with olive and cooking oils which may soak into the worktop, particulary when hot.

4:  Take care with acidic and spirit based products, such as wine, fruit juices etc. as they may etch into the surface.

5:  Take care with strongly coloured foodstuff such as beetroot, tomato and blackcurrant as these can stain surfaces.

6:  Do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring powders, wire wool etc.

7:  Do not use chlorine based cleaners, oven cleaners, acid, alkalis or any strong chemical such as caustic soda, paint stripper, oven cleaner, nail varnish remover, degreasant or similar products.

8:  Do not cut food on the granite - it may scratch the surface and will blunt the knife.

9:  The granite surface can be protected by using the products in our "after care kit"; alternatively, Lakeland Plastics sell a product called "Granite Cleaner", wich can be used on a regular basis to help protect the surface of the stone.

Marble
Marble is more porous and softer than granite and requires special care
1:  Regularly clean surfaces with warm water and washing up liquid and dry with a soft cloth.
2:  Wipe up spills immediately.
3:  Do not use chemicals or abrasive cleaners or cloths.
4:  Limescale removers must be avoided.
5:  Take particular care with coloured liquid, such as hair dye and coloured shampoo.
6:  Toohpaste is abrasive and alkaline.  It could scratch or mark the surface if any spillages are not removed quickly and with care.
7:  The marble surafce can be protected by using the products form the "after care kit", alternatively use a good quality, wax based, furniture polish spray on a regular basis.
Corian
1:  The only maintenance required is regualr washing with clean hot soapy water to remove the surface dirr.
2:  If necessary, use a gentle abrasive cleaner for stubborn dirt.
3:  Corian sinks will benefit from periodical overnight soaking in a mixture of water and a little bleach.
